After reading the reviews on here about damaged packages, I went straight to the NYX website and order’d through them. It took like 3 or 4 days for the processing of the order, and then another 2-3 days for shipping. I think I got it like a week after I order’d it.
I love this kit! No, the mirror doesn’t sit straight up, but the box is only a few inches tall & I don’t think you could use it if did sit straight up…but that’s just me, it might work fine for someone else if it did go straight up. But it will lay flat back. I leave it up at an angle and use it without any trouble at all. I would love for a pink eyeshadow to be in the pallet, but when I’ve needed a touch of pink, I’ve used the pink blush as an eyeshadow. I haven’t had any issues using the blushes b’cause they are in a line, I get a tissue and blend the colors that I want to use before I put my blush brush to my cheeks.
The applicators that come with the box aren’t great. But, I don’t like most applicators that come with makeup kits, so I invested in a set of brushes from Bare Minerals a while back. And they work wonderful.
The colors are highly pigmented and easily blended. The liquid eyeliner is a little slow to dry, but that could be more my application of it than a design of the product. LOVE the lip gloss pots!!! I haven’t used the mascara that came with it yet, so I can’t say how it does. I am beyond happy that I bought this kit.
If you love to play with your look, this is the way to go. So many choices, and for around the same price as just a couple items from places like Wal-Mart. The quality of the makeup is excellent, and it doesn’t feel like it’s caked on. I love it and get tons of compliments on my makeup, even to the point of having several friends on FaceBook get the kit.

Amelia D: August 14, 2012 at 10:46 am 7 of 10 people found the following review helpful Severe Damage, May 11, 2011By Amelia D (Seattle, WA) – This review is from: Nyx Makeup Set Beauty to Go-the Ultimate Beauty Box #S117 (Misc.)
NYX may be a reputable makeup company, and may be good makeup, but this Beauty Box just didn’t work. When I opened the box, one side had been broken as though hit at high impact–enough to tear up the plastic protective covering. The lower level was missing a blusher, which seems to have come unglued and been lost in the big black plastic box somewhere. Many of the eyeshadows were cracked and damaged, and since there is no damage to the outside gift box or to the shipping box, I know that this was damage done early on. And since someone else had the same trouble, I’m wondering how many other boxes are defective, too. I would have otherwise attributed this to a one-time error and not reviewed it harshly at all.
It’s such a fabulous beauty kit with so much to use and so many beautiful colors that it really makes me unhappy that it’s almost unusable.

This is my first book review. I’m trully amazed by what all is contained in this fairly compact book, yet each page contains a massive amount of information. It is quite thick, over 1,000 pages, LOTS of really sharp color photos. Covers so many subjects in addition to survival and camping. It’s as though it could be 10 different books in one. I’m really impressed by this book and feel it truly is one of the best books I’ve ever bought. I’m actually thinking of getting two of them… One to keep in the truck and one to read in my spare time at the house.. SO MUCH information is in this book, it’s like a small nature encyclopedia.. It covers all possible terrains, types of plants, animals, cloud formations, many maps showing insect distribution, etc.. climates, etc.. reptiles, most all of the usual survival/camping info.. but SO much more..how to survive practically any imagineable scenario. So many color photos. For nature-lovers and campers this is really a must-have book as well. I’ve bought several other survival books and this seems to contain just about all that is in the others..shelters, first aid, mental preparedness, kits, backbacks, fish preperation, game hunting, etc.. Although, there are some survival books that are quite unique as well in their own right and may go into much more detail on say, shelter-building for instance, this book shows with pictures, quite easy-to-understand basic construction techniques, for emergency situations. No SINGLE book can have everything, but I must say, this book sure does come close to it! I don’t think you will regret this purchase. Just one warning though, because there is so much information on each page, the print is quite small.

Outside: August 15, 2012 at 2:33 am 81 of 98 people found the following review helpful Save your money!, December 13, 2007By Outside – This review is from: Camping & Wilderness Survival: The Ultimate Outdoors Book (Paperback)
It should be noted that this is a self published book which is evident through the lack of editing. This massive book covers many skills relevant to survival and camping provided you have a tremendous amount of specialized gear and training(log cabin anyone? how about a sod house? Ever tried collecting sod in the wilderness?). A great deal of the book wastes time with things like how to fight a forest fire, or how to conduct a search and rescue operation for avalanche victims (usually a body recovery), he covers all kinds of rock climbing gear and techniques(some of it antiquated, pitons but no mention of cams) as well as meteorology and astronomy…let’s face it, you need specialized training for these skills and the weather man/woman with all their computer models still can’t get a handle on the forecast and a novice reader can learn it all from a book? Who the heck carries a wooden block and tackle with them and why do I want to read his 20 page description of hurricane Katrina? I do not need to know the schematics of six different telescopes nor do I care how a seahorse swims in the Indian Ocean! (No I’m not lying, it’s in there). The science of hydroplaning interests me a little more than why I should buy a $3.96 1950's era survival knife w/survival saw in the handle with the fish hooks. Sharks fins up “..might indicate a reduced possibility of attack”, when they’re down it …”might indicate an attack”. Where does he get his information? Bow and drill is mentioned …”the rotation and pressure of the drill, grinding on the baseboard, heats the wood which ignites…” Get real! His fire saw description is equally pathetic. The bulk of this book looks like it was lifted from park service brochures, ancient National Geographics and other antiquated sources of outdoor lore and then “individualized”. I could go on, but enough… I had given it more stars initially, but the more I look the book over the more incredulous I become, no responsible publishing company would ever let this book go to press as is, thus the self publishing of it.
Very disappointing!

I’ve had the Drinkwell fountain for a couple of years, great product. Once a month I take it apart and throw everything except for the pump in the dishwasher. Works great!! Unless you don’t own a dishwasher – forget the brushes.

My complaint for these brushes is the poor product design, specifically, with the tips of the biggest and the smallest brushes. To clean around all the sharp corners well, it is important for the tips of these brushes to be covered with a lot of bristles. Guess what, the tip of the smallest brush is prety much dominated by the metal wires, so when you try to clean, instead of getting the bristles to touch and rub against the surfaces, it’s mostly the metal wires that come into contact. Last time I checked, it’s the bristles that clean, not the metal wire. Same with the biggest brush: The way the metal wires wrap around the sponge tip to hold it to the handle prevents the sponge from coming into full contact with the surfaces.
The product designers for the brushes don’t deserve to be product designers. Do you know how much it takes to design a simple floor mop? A lot. A good product designer has to think about which yarn absorbs water well, how much water to absorb so the mop won’t be hard to wring, what wringing mechanism to use, how long the handle should be, how thick the handle should be, how the mop head comes into contact with the floor, and so forth, in order to maximize ease of use and effectiveness.
The designers of the brushes are a failure. It seems that not much thought went into the design. Yes, we are dealing with just brushes, but even brushes should do the job they are supposed to do well.
